It is active nonviolent resistance to evil, assertive spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, persuading opponents of the justice of your cause.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolence seeks to win friendship and understanding. The end result of nonviolence is redemption and reconciliation, with the purpose of creating a Beloved Community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolence seeks to defeat injustice, not people. It recognizes that evildoers are also victims.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voluntary suffering can educate and transform. It involves a willingness to accept the consequences of one&#8217;s actions and suffering without retaliation. While violence may be necessary at times, nonviolence chooses never to inflict it. Unearned suffering is redemptive and has tremendous educational and transforming possibilities. Suffering can have the power to convert the enemy when reason fails.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolence chooses love instead of hate. It resists violence of the spirit as well as of the body.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolent love gives willingly, knowing that the return might be hostility. It is active, not passive, and does not sink to the level of the hater. Love for the enemy is how we demonstrate love for ourselves. Love restores community and resists injustice.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolence recognizes the fact that all life is interrelated.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonviolence believes that the universe is on the side of justice. The nonviolent resister has deep faith that justice will eventually win.&#8212;&#8211;The philosophy of nonviolence, as articulated above, presents a compelling framework for addressing conflict and pursuing social change. By embracing principles of love, understanding, and a steadfast belief in justice, nonviolence offers a path that not only resists injustice but also fosters reconciliation and the creation of a more just and equitable world.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nonviolence is a way of life for courageous people.
